When painting this portrait the novel Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë kept coming to mind. The emotional struggles Catherine Earnshaw had and the damage created to all around her when she decided turn from Heathcliff and marry Edgar Linton. Although this painting is not a direct characterization, I still wished to capture the emotional battle within.
