At Belton House there is a lovely walled garden behind the orangery. The walls are warm coloured old brick and make the most beautiful backdrop to the flower borders. I visit this garden several times a week. It's one of my favourite walks. I often paint the same places and I never tire of looking at what is growing there.
This small oil on board shows a tumble of Michaelmas Daisies and Sedum alongside the gravel path. I love late summer and autumn flowers, colour in the flowerbeds as the leaves start to turn.
This painting comes complete with a mount that I made myself in my studio. The mount measures 34.5 cm x 27.9 cm. It will fit into an off the shelf frame but looks good displayed as it comes, unframed.
