The first day of autumn. Autumn is often associated with the image of yellow and red leaves, playing in all shades. However, for me, autumn is more about the anticipation of rain and fewer sunny days.
And it's precisely in the fall that I want to absorb every sunny day, which could be the last of the season, or even the last ever. But this story is not about sadness; it's about the warmth that I want to hold and preserve within myself.
For many years, I have been using blue and yellow in my paintings. It has always been about my homeland, the vast steppe, and the clear blue sky above it.
However, when I started painting the portrait of this golden stallion, I suddenly found myself looking down from the perspective of a bird's flight at my homeland, and instead of the sky, I saw the Don River. After all, for me, my native places are all about the Don, the steppe, the reeds or bulrush, and, of course, the golden horse. It's the combination of all these elements that gives me that feeling of the first days of autumn, which I so desperately want to keep inside.
The prototype for this painting is one of my favorite stallions of Budionniy breed, Boxer.
