Atlantic Rising is a 30 x 40 inches (approximately 76 x 101cm), realist oil painting on canvas.
Inspired by the colour and endless movement of the ocean, Christopher Witchall’s painting is a bridge between abstract painting and high realism. The elements of abstract painting are all there - colour, texture, movement and contrasting tones. The paint is built up in thin transparent layers and areas where the paint is thickly applied.
The artist’s unsentimental approach to his subjects combine two great passions - a love of traditional painting techniques and a fascination with the photographic image. The result of this are paintings that are both painterly and highly realistic.
Atlantic Rising is painted on a deep edge stretched canvas, so there is no need for framing and can be hung immediately. It is signed on the front and supplied with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
