Original artwork description:

Acrylic colour on handmade Thai mulberry paper (kada sa), deckled edge, 9.5 x 13.3 in., 24 x 34 cm.
An expressive interpretation of one of my orchid flowers. P. kolopakingii. Loose brushwork and sometimes thick paint applied to this tick parchment paper. The finish is rich and textured.
Here I use is a traditional mulberry paper handmade in Thailand. It is a thick parchment type paper, strong yet pliable. I have the paper made to this size to get the deckled edges which adds to the textural effect. As each page of this paper is handmade the shape will vary a bit from one paper to the next. This page is a bit misshapen.
The close up pictures are to get a feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting. Then there’s the work in progress. And that’s me next to the painting.

Please note that you can purchase up to 3 paintings of this same size or smaller to be included in 1 order and pay only 1 shipping fee.
About framing.
When considering framing bear in mind to not cover up the deckled edges. This is one of the specialties of the painting, one of its charms. It is best displayed framed with a cut mat board around the painting so as not to cover the edges, thereby putting some space between the art and the glass and bringing depth to the framed art. It can also be framed simply with backing board and pressed with glass over the front without causing damage.

Materials used:

Acrylic colour, handmade paper
