A handmade open edition linocut print of a field full of wild grasses on a windy summers day.
This is a two stage print, the first stage is a jigsaw linocut and the second is a key block that is printed on the top. I used an ombre or ‘rainbow roll’ technique to create changes in the colours and add to the depth of the print.
This is a field I know so well, it’s walked upon by many in the village where I live. One very (very!) blustery late summer day last year we got to the field and the sky was full of drama, the long dried grasses were dancing in the wind and I was inspired to start this linocut as soon as I returned home. It’s a small print with a lot going on. It reminds me of windy days where the weather gets right under your skin and makes you feel so alive.
The inks used for this print are Schmincke Aqua-Linoldruck which are water soluble inks with high lightfast properties.
The paper is Daler-Rowney Canford Ice White 150gsm.
As each print is inked and printed by hand there will be slight variations between each print, each one is in it’s own way an original. Colours may appear slightly differently on a computer screen to the actual print.
Handmade Prints
These prints are all handmade and as such there can be slight variations in the prints in an edition, though these are very slight. It means that each print in an edition is unique and is an original in it’s own right. Please also bear in mind that although I take every care to photograph the prints as faithfully as possible there can also be variations in colour between what you view on a screen and the original print.
Lino, printing inks, printmaking paper.
