Acrylic painting depicting the Ascrib islands situated between the Waternish and Trotternish peninsulas on the Isle of Skye.
This painting was painted traditionally then altered by adding layers of glaze and the removing specific areas to create light effects. Some areas were then finished off by using a dry brush.
It is a technique I have been using lately because- although tricky- if done right I feel it can create atmosphere more than my more traditional seascape paintings can.
the painting lastly is given two coats of matt varnish to protect it. I normally use matt varnish as reflection in gloss varnish can make the painting sometimes difficult to see,
The painting is wire strung and ready to hang although I feel it would benefit from a frame.
