Original artwork description:

“As Long As I Can Hold My Breath” is an acrylic painting 122cms x 90cms on two plywood panels secured by wooden batten frames 1.75cms in depth. “As Long As I Can Hold My Breath” is inspired by the epic musical composition of the same name by Harold Budd. This neo classical masterpiece is built round loops of processed strings and augmented by a very spectral piano. This extensive and expressive work, over 70 minutes long, is full of evocative sounds of both electronic and acoustic pianos, accompanied by a gentle strings quartet as well as subtle soprano sax musings to build a cyclical piece that is nothing short of breath-taking. The loose, dreamlike nature of Budd’s compositions seem to be composed of reverb and echo other than pure piano adding to the ephemeral, barely there-ness that makes this work music so special. Ghost-like and dripping with nostalgia and memory. Audible and present, but forever out of reach. The painting is a gently meandering interpretation of Budd’s work. The gestural brushstrokes aim to illustrate the curvature of the musical plane. It intends to provide an experience of empathetic feeling and emotion. Sensuous and enjoyable. There is always a reference to landscape in such paintings. This is a warm landscape close to water.
The painting is shipped in a robust custom made cardboard crate (same as those used to transport large screens). The painting is bubble wrapped to protect the canvas. Further wrapping is made with corrugated card. A wooden frame is placed inside the cardboard crate to preserve the structural strength of the packaging. Each painting is insured to its sale value. Shipping costs within the U.K. take into consideration weight and insurance. U.K. shipping costs for this artwork are £90
