This painting is part of a series of works I have continued that are inspired by my love of Autumn.

Most of my paintings are created from my own emotional response to the world around me. I try to paint what I feel. For this collection I have explored my link to the natural world through each of my senses. I have considered the most obvious senses: sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. I have also thought about other senses that detect and relay information when we are surrounded by countryside or beside the sea.

It describes my walk through countryside beside the coast on one of the first days of autumn when the air had become chilly. If I were to have closed my eyes I would have know it was autumn by the smell of the air... woodsmoke.

It has been created on a box canvas and has lots interesting marks and textures. the sides are painted white so no need for framing. It has also been signed on the side and fitted with chord so it is all ready to hang.
