Art Nouveau-style painting inspired by a story of art, female struggle and passion through the figure of the extraordinary and courageous Artemisia Gentileschi, a painter of the 1600s talented enough to be compared to Caravaggio. Her imaginary portrait, on the left of the work, is interpreted as an image that emerges illuminating the symbolic darkness of dominant values, highlighting the melancholic, violent and exuberant moods that marked her life. She was also a lute player and had occasion for correspondence with important composers of her time, including Claudio Monteverdi, whose imaginary portrait is depicted next to her.
