I painted these fantastic flowers at gorgeous garden Manoir de Botcol, in France. A variety of vibrant colored Aquilegias reminds me a crowd of trembling butterflies. I tried to express the motley rave of colour, the contrast of warm yellow tones on sunlited petals and cold green tones of stems and shadows. The intricate form of petals turned me to some way of floral abstraction. Rotation of wide colored strokes in a free impressionistic manner gives freshness and airy impression to the picture.
