- - About The Artist - -
Kev Munday creates colourful utopian worlds and invites the viewer to spend some time living in them. Inspired by people-watching and the everyday, Kev exaggerates and celebrates the ordinary and aims for his art to appeal to all ages.
Using bold lines and block colours, the vibrancy of Munday’s style creates an enthralling visual experience. his iconic crowd paintings depict a sea of unique individuals which pays tribute to the beauty found in diversity. each individual portrait is equally valued, taken altogether, the effect is a striking vision of community which is more than the sum of its individual parts.
Starting his artistic career at the age of 16, Kev's first creative endeavours came in the form of street art; painting walls and leaving stickers, paste-ups and other markings on street furniture. It wasn't until a few years later that a friend and fellow artist suggested he transfer his artwork onto canvas and he found an instant attraction to the surface. Building upon the style he had been developing in his street work, Kev continued to work with spray paint and markers, using the vivid colours and bold lines that are still present in his work to date.
Now aged 33, Kev has created artwork for brands including Walt Disney, IKEA, Artfinder and Uni-Ball and his art is collected and exhibited worldwide. Having recently been named by the Telegraph as a ‘British artist to invest in right now’ and the best-selling British artist of the year on Artfinder, Munday’s work can be found transcending the gallery walls onto a plethora of surfaces, including everything from police cars to pianos, billboards to grandfather clocks. Still relishing the opportunity to work in the public domain, Kev likes to see everything as a canvas and can be regularly found producing his artwork live at a variety of events
In 2017, Kev Munday held his first solo show abroad with Vintage Deluxe in Maastricht, The Netherlands, a collection of 50 paintings which sold out during the ten day exhibition. In 2018, Kev Munday was awarded an Arts Council funded exhibition at Showcase Gallery in Southampton, England. This entailed a three month residency focusing on art in the public domain and culminated in a series of public artworks including a permanent art trail across the city, made with the input of local residents. In 2019, Kev's piece 'Family' was selected to be exhibited at The Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition - the world's largest open submission art show.
Further recent projects include a 15 metre tall mural in Düsseldorf, Germany, live painting at The Affordable Art Fair in Amsterdam, a collaborative poster with IKEA and a hand painted police car for his local constabulary.

"Kev's pieces are just so full of joy! His cast of characters is cool, but at the same time totally free from pretention and remind me of works by Keith Haring. I love that they're observed from life - they speak to the fact that we're all different and celebrate colourful, harmonious diversity.” Jonas Algrem, Artfinder
"Happy-go-lucky Kev Munday will undoubtedly bring a smile to your face with his unique style that defies age and offers up a distinctly off-the-wall approach.
“My goal is to make people think and smile at the same time and I hope that my work communicates as much to a seven-year-old kid as it does to a serious art collector.”
Deckchairs, violins, skateboards, clothing and buildings – there is no object that does not deserve the delights of Kev Munday. Using an assortment of mediums, from marker pens to digital art, Munday finds his inspiration from Japanese kawaii graphics, South American tribal art and the sheer energy and movement of colour. Munday is slowly but surely making his way to the big time having already been commissioned by Disney and Fracture Skateboards to brighten up their brands."
