Original artwork description:

Aqua_215 is part of a series of abstract drawings combining ink and fineliners. Inspired by satellite imagery, it contrasts organic, flowing shapes (inspired by sumi-e painting styles) depicting water with strong linework. The latter depicts the influence of humans on natural landscapes. The organic shapes on closer inspection show a huge amount of detail, not unsimilar to taking a closer look at nature itself. As such, the artwork can be perceived at different levels of detail - further away, the observer can perceive the overall composition with more abstract shapes, up close the details take over the observation.

Materials used:

ink and fineliner
