Part of my "Dramatic fruit 'n' veg" series where the very dramatic shadows imbue seemingly ordinary foodstuffs with mystery and glamour. This is a contemporary take on traditional 17th century still life paintings but instead of 'cluttering' the canvas with many items, I've chosen to just focus on one, or occasionally just a few, thereby changing the value of a banal, quotidian object, elevating its beauty.

Following a visit a few years ago to the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, I became a bit obsessed with the outrageously elaborate gold frames that many of the paintings had. I wondered how such a frame would complement a simple subject matter, say, a still life of a single fruit or vegetable, albeit one painted like a Caravaggio chiaroscuro/Dutch old master. The answer, to my mind, is they go together very well indeed!

DELIVERY INFORMATION
In order to avoid unnecessary trips to the Post Office, I shall be arranging for delivery to be via courier (not Hermes!) and shipping charges will reflect this. As prices will vary depending on the purchaser's location, if the actual shipping price is less than that charged, I will refund the difference.
