Aphinar is the elsewhere that doesn’t exist, the last word and the first dream.

It is a memory that courses in the blood and a place you can never reach.

It is both familiar and otherworldly, a specific location on a map and an utopic topography…

This print is based on a photo taken in the Sahara on a personal journey a few years ago, but the image is stripped down to just 4 colours, the land and animals barely more than dots of light on the paper.

It could be anywhere, an image of a universal yearning for another world, or an ultimate journey.
