Original artwork description:

This is an Ink drawing of the beautiful corner building on Church St and Clayton Lane in Liverpool City Centre. It was drawn from a building opposite it. There is so much incredible detailed decoration on the outside of this building that definitely tells part of the story of the city’s past wealth and its creation. The areas in between each floor have ornate relief sculptures that show iconography and even Liverbirds (the symbol of the city) very cool!
I found this building both beautiful and interesting as the outside gives an insight into its own wealthy past in contrast to its current situation with the ground floor vacant and a homeless person sat on the floor outside asking for change, giving the picture its name, Any Odds?
I was going to say this shows the state of modern society compared to the past, but I’m actually more sure that there has always been a huge wealth gap in society and unfortunately not that much has changed to fix this ongoing issue.

Materials used:

Ink on 250gsm Brown Paper
