ORIGINAL NIKOLAY MARTINOV ARTWORK !!!

2022, "Moon Shadow" - wood wall relief

This original hand carved paulownia wood wall sculpture is one of the latest artworks of the skillful Bulgarian contemporary sculptor Nikolay Martinov, deeply inspired by abstract fractal geometry, minimalism and pop art. The artist's concept for this beautiful moon portrait id to use mainly anthracite color and layered carved scenery. Anthracite is a form of coal used in thermal power stations for generating electricity. The color comes from this object. Anthracite has some nuance and sophistication from the pure black color. It appears slightly softer and without the harsh contrast of black. It also appears slightly warmer and more naturalistic especially if it has more of a green-gray tinge. Moon Shadow is one extraordinary woodcarving masterpiece and exquisite home wall décor.
Nikolay Martinov’s work encompasses many contemporary art styles with the act of minimal drawing being key to his exploration of form and sculptural composition. Mining a space between figuration and abstraction, the artist consistently returns to nature as a point of departure, exploring algorithmic forms and urban shapes as a metaphor for transformation.
