Original artwork description:

Oil and acrylic on canvas.
90cm x 90cm x 3.5cm
In this piece, I aimed to capture the reflections in the water, during a still winter's morning. - The serenity and peace I feel, as I sit looking across the calm waters of the estuary - Distant buildings reflect in the ripples below.
The palette I chose, is soft and calming and reflects the shades of the sea and sky, as they blend together seamlessly.
I study the coastal skies over North Wales and also the Cheshire hills, close to my home.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the skies and sea - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
The sky's layers and ripples in the incoming tide, are developed by forming texture through layering and blending the paint, building depth, movement and highlights.

Materials used:

Oil and acrylic
