Original artwork description:

Continuing my interest in retro sweet wrapper design is this latest painting of an Anglo Bubbly bubblegum. I wanted to capture the nostalgic rush of being a kid and going into a sweetshop, through bright colours and an impactful pop art style.

Anglo Bubblys were a staple of my childhood, and a regular sight in sweetshops and anywhere that sold penny sweets. Its flavour is hard to describe, beyond the fact that it tastes like classic bubblegum! The sweet itself is a bright bubblegum pink, and its packaging boasts that it 'blows bigger bubbles', although I omitted that text here to maximise on colour space.

As usual with my work, the item is set against a sky blue background, and the overall representation is of flat graphic impact rather than 3D realism.

The end result is a bright, decorative piece of art that would look great hung in the home of similar lover of kitsch, vintage design, or would make an ideal gift for anyone with a sweet tooth.

It is painted in acrylics on a stretched cotton canvas that's ready to hang, and is signed on the back. I've included a picture of me holding the artwork to show it's relative size. There's also a picture of the piece next to the sweet wrapper that inspired it, and the final picture shows the artwork alongside some of my other retro sweet paintings.
