Angels of the Sea by Alan Harris British artist, paintings, oils, watercolours, pastel, mixed media and sculptures.
The central piece of this sculpture is a metal figure treated with a Kintsugi, technique and adding elements using discarded musical objects in the form of structure around the base creating a new object that include old elements as metal and gold powder. The base is a piece of bog good with adition of metal pieces of musical instruments.
I created these sculptures by using broken or otherwise discarded objects, to give them new or continued life by reworking them as works of art. using Kintsugi, to not only repair, but also to celebrate the initial damage with golden emphasis. My work was inspired by knowledge of this art, and a desire to preserve the past, like most of my figurative work.
This is a totally unique piece as every part is unique in its own but the viewer will see a new interpretation as part of a new object of art.
conceptual art, wood, copper, metal, kintsugi
