Original artwork description:
Watercolor painting inspired by ancient Byzantine icons and Mexican surrealism. Since I was living in Istanbul I was very impressed by ancient Byzantine frescos and mosaics that have been preserved in old Greek churches and cathedrals around this Turkey largest city. After moving to Mexico I have discovered a great female surrealist artist Remedios Varo and understood the roots of Mexican spiritualism. In this artwork I have combined the visual image inspired by icon of an Byzantine angel with surreal face of a woman.
Materials: watercolour paints and inks on fine art paper.
