A statement piece in the beautiful colours of a Summer sunrise on the Isle of Harris. This large square seascape is available also as a canvas on request. The size and neutral colours of beige, cream and gold make this suitable for a living room where it will give a sense of calm and peace.
In Summer on Skye the cliff tops are so special in the very early morning. At sunrise the soft rose gold colours seem to glow over the water between here and the mainland. The currents flow softly, creating patterns on the water. You can hardly see anything on the horizon, from here it is a long way before you reach land looking north to the top of the world.
The title is taken from a beautiful poem called I'll tell you how the sun rose
'I’ll tell you how the sun rose, -
A ribbon at a time.
The steeples swam in amethyst,
The news like squirrels ran.
The hills untied their bonnets,
The bobolinks begun.
Then I said softly to myself,
"That must have been the sun!"
From the poem by Emily Dickenson (1830 - 1886)
Printed at 30 x 30 inches with white border for total of 36 x 36 inches.
I photograph and print every image, I do not outsource any part of my workflow. Each canvas has been painstakingly crafted to ensure the true colours, resolution and texture are exactly as they should be.
For these special small editions of my work I use beautiful Canson Aquarelle Paper paper which has a soft watercolour paper texture which works beautifully with the textured feel of this image.
Canson are one of the oldest paper manufacturers in the world, they have been making paper and canvas for over 450 years in France. Canson are Eco Friendly - they purchase paper pulp only from forests managed in a sustainable way which also makes them pretty special.
