This mixed media painting explores the use of locally sourced pigments collected from a walk around West Somerset and the Quantocks. The image explores the history embedded in the land surrounding these areas of Somerset and the Monmouth Rebellion.
Through working with the material and thinking about the history of the land I try to use the material to explore ideas exploring the role of history on the present moment through allowing the material to flow and become a conduit of my thoughts and memory, seeking alternative ways to explore memory and its epigenetic link to the past.
Handmade Rock Pigment, Watchet Rocks, Medium, Linseed Oil, Medium, Quantock Pigment, Postcard.
