A recurring image in my work, is of these four beautiful ladies, dressed in Edwardian finery, complete with parasols and flower-laden bonnets, propelling their boat inexpertly through the water. The title “An Argosy of Beauty” was given to them by their original photographer who worked in the area around Bath at the end of the 19th century.

Over several years I pictured them making a tour of Britain, posing for photographers and artists in many of the nation’s best known beauty spots. Here the four ladies in their boat visit Gunby Hall, a Regency House in Lincolnshire. They are pictured being photographed by members of the Plymouth Photographic Society.
