Artwork description:

“An Argosy of Beauty” 1972

Silk-Screen Print. 1972.
Original Artwork, drawn and printed by the artist,
Edition Number 17/30, signed on the front.
Paper Size: 30” x 22” Image Size: 29.5” x 19.2”

Around 1901, the original photographer, of four beautiful ladies, dressed in Edwardian finery, complete with parasols and flower laden bonnets and propelling their boat inexpertly through the water, gave his photograph the title: “An Argosy of Beauty”. This is my 1972 remaking of his photograph.
Over subsequent years, and without apology, I have repeatedly remodelled this image and pictured the ladies making a tour of Britain, posing for photographers and artists in many of the nation’s best known beauty spots.
