Amethyst sunrise
Seeing a radiant sun,
Purple, violet and dusky pink hues,
Ethereal chalk hills,
Dense woodland of early October,
The dried grasses in the marshy field.

Words and feelings of a local scene where I live on the outskirts of Shaftesbury, North Dorset to Wiltshire border.
Original impressionist watercolour on cold pressed rough textured watercolour paper bockingford 300 gsm 160lb.
I used a wet on wet technique throughout the entire painting . I applied with a small Chinese hake for the sky and background washes. I dropped in the sun colour first and then applied the purple to dusky pink hues around the sun while the paper was wet. Then I continued to the woodland. This took many applications of dropping, pressing the patterns of the trees while the paper was wet, using a sable hair brush. The detail of the dried grasses in the field were created with my nail etching the paint out.
