This painting is my first in the upcoming series where I go back to exploring the wonders of the Amazon, which has always been an endless source of creative inspiration for me. Especially now at a time when this pristine rainforest is in crisis, I take a moment to channel its captivating beauty to remind the world of its importance. The Amazon is indeed the "lungs of the planet", but it is composed of more than just trees. It is an intricate ecosystem where every living being depends on the other for survival. This painting therefore also celebrates the interconnection of all of life, big or small.
This work was created by carefully pouring a high density, high gloss titanium white polymer paint which was first evaporated to increase its density even further, onto a bright metallic blue fluid layer of lesser density. Cells were created as a result of the high density paint sinking via gravity. This created the Amazon "river" onto which I implanted vivid greens and turquoise blues and built texture via coarse sand and smooth concrete media. Iridescent vitrails and liquin-buttered fluorescent oils caress the river in a calming, organic fashion, embodying the spirits of the Amazon creatures. Fine-tip oscillations permeate the canvas in a semi-stochastic manner, emphasizing the unpredictability and fragility of beauty, while imparting a playful note on the atmosphere. This painting is highly textured and contains glossy, iridescent and metallic pigments which catch natural light in unpredictable ways. You will therefore see the painting transform depending on the time of day and lighting, making for an ideal dynamic centerpiece.
The painting continues onto the sides and so is ready to hang unframed if desired. A triple layer of gloss varnish protects the painting from sunlight and UV rays.
