Always special
Walking back the sky was filled with beautiful colours,
Dusky pink, pale Prussian blue and pale peach sunset sky,
Muted treeline and violet Purbeck ridge,
In a clearing I see sandy trails, sparse bracken, heather and grasses,
Rempstone heath, Dorset.
Words and thoughts
I love this area so much and when I need a different scenery in Dorset. I escape to the Isle of Purbeck where as soon as I see the hills and heath I explore another footpath.
Original impressionist watercolour on extra rough textured watercolour paper bockingford. I used my Chinese hake and created sporadic washes, leaving slits of white. I went over the paper all over with the washes to reflect the light all the way through the watercolour painting. I made sure the paper was wet first. I then brought in a hill line while the paper was damp. Then I created a treeline in muted colours. I made many purple and earthy shades for the foreground using my filbert brush, dashing, dabbing and pressing the markings on the painting. Etched out the grasses with my finger nail.
Extra rough textured watercolour paper bockingford 425 gsm 200lb, Windsor and Newton Cotman watercolours, Chinese hake, filbert brush, sable hair brush,
