Abiquiu is a very small town in northern New Mexico noted for the striking geological formations of intense reds, yellows and white. This painting was done on location (en plein air) by the Chama River in Abiquiu on a summer afternoon.


Artist Georgia O'Keeffe was the area's most famous resident, living there from 1949 until just prior to her death in the late 1980's.

The painting is on an Ampersand cradled panel with a blond wooden sides, ready to hang.
