I painted this landscape en plein air (outside, on location) in Point Lobos Nature Reserve near Carmel-by-the-Sea on the California coast. The Granite Point Trails starts from The Whaler's Cove and meanders along the coast to reveal hidden beaches and secluded coves. When I paint en plein air, I usually use quick decisive brushstrokes, with a brush fully loaded with lots of oil paint, making thick juicy layers upon layers of paint. I am trying to preserve the freshness of impression by leaving what was done in the field un-retouched.
Materials used to create this artwork:
Oil on 12"x16"x0.2" Centurion Oil-Primed DLX Linen panel. The painting is varnished and is listed unframed. it will need a frame to hang.
oil paint, linen canvas, art panel, varnish
