Painted on-site at the MN Landscape Arboretum in Chaska, MN. Features an iris flower whose petals are lifting in the breeze and spread across the painting like a wingspan. The top petals display shades of blushing pink with white highlights and lavender shadows, and the bottom petals display white centers with deep red and purple edges. The red and purple bleed into the white in fine streaks, and the beard is unusually pale, nearly white. The center of the flower, revealed amidst the petals, has a golden yellow glow. Painted in oil on board with both palette knife and brush. The flower petal shapes are enhanced by the texture of the paint. The variegated blue and green background is created with water-based casein paint, and glazed over with oil. Framed in a 3" wide wood frame with a gold finish. May be purchased unframed by request.
