The idea for this painting was born in a beautiful village in Cumbria called Blanchford. I stumbled across the most abundant and colourful allotment I have ever seen. There was a lady in the allotment next to it with some mop headed chickens and I asked her if the allotment holder would mind me taking a photo. She said he'd be delighted, his flowers won awards so I took several photos and those were the inspiration for this painting.
