Allotment painting by Mary Kemp, painter and failed allotmenteer.
I used to have an allotment. Oh gosh it was hard work. Part of my thinking was that I would create lots of paintings from it, but of course I spent all my energies trying to keep the weeds down. It got the better of me in the end.
This I painted from source material from those days.. All the time I was painting I could smell the earth and feel the ache in my bones.
