Surreal landscape inspired by the work of Zao Wou Ki. Blue is said to be the most universally appealing colour on the spectrum because of its non-polarising traits. One of the things I love in Zao Wou Ki's work is the way he uses intense colour but also creates pockets of light, which I have done here to the right of the painting. This work is more semi-abstract than his abstracts, the allegorical element is the surreal way nature can often appear to us when we really gaze or stare at it for a long time. This creates the most wondrous sense of awe and strangeness - something which makes our planet endlessly fascinating.
