Original artwork description:

This encaustic painting is intensely active, intricately detailed and dominated by purples, blues, and reds. Silver and white striations accentuate the active surface. The image is fantastic, but not surreal, rather like a maelstrom of natural forces at work. Here is an image formed by thermal energy and air currents, one that bears up to long and engaged looking.
The title comes from a line written by the poet Tomas Transtromer.
