Original artwork description:

Painted in 2020 during a time of isolation and racial strife, this painting is an escape into an enchanted wonderland. Much like Alice in the storybook tale, I find myself navigating a peculiar new world. This painting feels to me like falling towards wonderland and seeing the strange sights on the way down.

Through a layering technique, I have incorporated Acrylic paint, Collage, Image Transfers, and marks from various mark making tools into this painting. I sand and scrape into each layer, creating a textured surface, rich with history.

This piece is on a 2” cradled wood panel. This painting is sealed with a UV Topcoat for protection.

Materials used:

Acrylic paint, stabilo crayons, ephemera, image transfers, sanding/scraping
