Alice in Wonderland, 30 x 35 cm, collage and acrylic on oval canvas, 2024
Alice is the first production in a series dedicated to heroines in literature. I couldn't miss the story of this young girl who falls into a white rabbit's hole to find herself in an absurd world without any meaning. Disney's film adaptation remains a reference for me. My Alice has grown up but is still immersed in a book, without images or writing, a teacup in the shape of a cat in her hand. She is blonde, like the one in Disney, and is dressed in similar colors. She has a tattoo on the inside of her wrist that recalls the Queen of Hearts. The oval canvas, for its part, evokes the continuation of the tale, entitled "Through the Looking Glass".

Paper: Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll (1865), 1978 edition with illustrations by John Tenniel (found second-hand)
