Diptych "Aletheia"
110×90×2 cm.
March 2022.
On February 24 (2022) the war in Ukraine began.
The painting "Melpomene" (dark painting) was completed on March 1 and became a reflection of the coming events and the psycho-emotional state of people (and me). Melpomene in ancient Greek mythology the muse of tragedy.
But I (and all people) needed a source of hope and light.
This is how the second painting "Eirene" (light painting) appeared. Eirene - goddess of peace in ancient Greek mythology.
These are two separate paintings. But when they are together we see the truth. Therefore I called the diptych "Aletheia". Aletheia - truth in the ancient Greek pantheon.
When they are together, we again see the dualism of being: Death and birth. Pain and serenity. Good and evil. And the cycle of everything.
And when they are together there is another important meaning. I deliberately mirrored the same figure, added the same details - the rabbit in an embrace, a pose, and even the emotional state of the child, to show how the same story can be presented depending on external circumstances.
I wanted everyone would become more critical, analyze sources of information, observe personally and be able to independently draw more objective conclusions, and also defend their position, and not be part of the political machine for killing.
Edition: Unique, Unframed, Unstretched, Rolled. Signed front and rear sides. With a certificate of authenticity.
This artwork will be shipped rolled in a dent-resistant tube.
This method is especially safe for works.
Rolled works can be easily stretched (for canvas works, i.e. placed onto wooden stretcher bars) and/or framed by a local framer upon arrival
