Original artwork description:

A vivid surrealist oil painting of a deep red garment, floating as though suspended in space. The rich scarlet hue of the tunic contrasts strongly with the obsidian black background - a striking visual statement piece! I was inspired to create this painting after designing and sewing the tunic (the real tunic is actually made from pale cream linen), and seeing the lovely shadows created by its crinkly surface. I chose to render it in red to give warmth and vibrancy to the image, using many layers of transparent red glazing to create the rich hue of the garment.
