Oil on paper 28x28cm (11x11in) 2024
In the series “Losing references” I investigate the importance of cultural references in our society. How do you feel when seeing the most representative personalities of the XX and XXI century deal with an inproper situation? The purpose of the series is to make people think about the relationship we all have with culture and cultural icons, and what could happen if we lose it/them, voluntarily or not.
I chose ten extremely famous people, which can be considered bearer of the contemporary occidental culture, and put them in a situation which clashes with the values they represent. To do so, I added an iconic picture of the protagonist (in this case, Albert Einstein) to an estranging background, using Photoshop.
“Albert in an asylum” is a 28x28cm oil on paper painting, signed on the front and back. It is a unique artwork and comes with a certificate of authenticity, signed by the artist.
