Original artwork description:

I flew to the Pacific Northwest Skaget Valley on Whidbey Island to participate in a plein air event. Many beautiful coves to paint on location and the beautiful foliage in and around this island in Washington state. I was particularly drawn to this lovely old bed and breakfast on Penn Cove in Coupeville, WA. The gardens were extraordinary, but what caught my attention was this boat, aground on the cliff side. Beyond the fence is the cliff face which tumbles down to the cove below. Fisherman take care of the many mussel traps on the water. Often you see Orca whales within this cove. If you are a fan of the popular television show, Deadliest Catch, they are primarily off the coast of Seattle, a ferry ride away. I painted on location and brought this image home to finish in the studio. So many paintings, I long to return.
