Artwork description:

Agapanthus remind me of holidays and seaside gardens. I have grown them over the years with varying success but despite having three plants, I have only had one flower this summer. I decided to depict the flower's intricate shape in this linocut. Firstly, I made a small watercolour painting outside in the garden, observing the growing plant. I then transcribed the picture onto a small lino block and carved out the first layer. I then inked the block and printed the first colour. I repeated the process of carving, inking and printing, a further five times to produce a print using six colours in total. I do not use a press, instead, I hand burnish each layer, a process which I find very satisfying. This is a small edition of 12 prints and each one differs slightly, making each linocut a unique artwork.
Each print is on white 250gms acid free paper.
The paper measures 21 x 14.8cms.
The image measures 7.5 x 7.5cms.
Each print is numbered, titled and signed with initials in pencil on the front.
The print comes in a cellophane print bag and is posted by Royal Mail first class signed for delivery.

Materials used:

Water based ink
