A step back in time, when afternoon tea was a must., and for it to be at a posh hotel with a band was a real treat. You dressed in your finest, a hat was compulsory, and the waiter showed you to your table, then the waitress pushed along the trolley or dinner- wagon loaded with cake and dessert. Afterwards, they even swept away any crumbs you had spilt onto a special shaped tray.
