Original artwork description:

A fantastic trail through Garrapata State Park is the hike to Soberanes Point and Whale Peak. You will get clifftop vistas of the Pacific and hilltop views up and down the coast. The shoreline here is very rocky and inaccessible. Hiking trails meander in all directions with views into many pocket coves.

This is a Gouache painting on Arches 140 lb. Cold Press Watercolor paper mounted on 1/8" Sintra panel.

Gouache is very closely related to watercolor. It uses the same gum Arabic binder, but has more pigment which is not ground as finely as watercolor. Professional gouache colors are so opaque and vibrant, because they have the highest pigment load of any other painting medium.

The painting is unframed and will require a frame to hang on the wall.
No glass needed when framing, as the painting is protected with coats of archival varnish. Images showing the artwork framed in home interiors are for presentation only. Frame is not included.

Materials used:

gouache, cold press paper, archival varnish, Sintra panel
