This Oil Pastel on Brown Paper drawing is one of a series that were done from our hotel room in the capital city of Koror, Palau. It is a view of one small part of the Unesco World Heritage site of the Rock Islands drawn on hot and sunny afternoons as we were escaping the heat! This national park is breathtakingly beautiful and every part offers stunning views. There are a lot of mysterious mangroves and thousands of these jagged rock islands covered in tropical foliage, all different shapes and sizes appearing to rise out of the ocean like magic. We were lucky to be able to watch the afternoon rainstorms rolling in and engulfing these islands, making them disappear and re-appear throughout the days of our visit. The rainy season can be very beautiful when you don't get caught in the storms! I built up the detail of this drawing by overlaying and adding thin layers of Oil Pastel on top of each other, blending some colours and leaving others raw. I loved how the mist would linger over the distant mountains after the heavy afternoon monsoon rainstorms and I tried to show that it this picture.
A note to International Buyers:
Shipping rates have increased in price all around the world due to Covid and other complications. Due to this I have had to increase the the cost of shipping my artworks in line with the Delivery Companies. I will always strive to find the cheapest possible option for the customer (usually my local POST OFFICE EMS Recorded Delivery, but unfortunately they don’t deliver worldwide at the moment) If the amount of shipping charged at purchase is less than the shipping company charges then I will refund the difference to the customer. This refund will be done after the picture has arrived safely and has been accepted.
Any import duties, taxes and charges that may be payable are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges, if applicable, will be the responsibility of the buyer. Please message me to check if this might affect your purchase.
