Original artwork description:

A study of a self portrait by Cézanne. One of the interesting things in Cézanne is the way he thinks of a painting/drawing, as a kind of 'construction' built piece by piece from one fixed point and working outwards and across the surface, finding echoes and parallels in the multiple forms of nature, and not reworking anything. I have adopted this technique too. It makes drawing a live experience which can fail at any moment; a sort of tight-rope walk across disaster.

Materials used:

Pencil on Fabriano Paper
