Seeing Alaska's majestic mountains jutting from the blue Pacific Ocean is not a common experience. Even less common is the ability to see them under calm blue skies with fluffy clouds constantly changing the warm light. Rarer still is the ability to paint the scene en plein air from the aft of a cruise ship. How utterly privileged I feel to have had to opportunity to paint this dreamy scene among fellow artists and friends while on the Painted Ladies Inc. Great Alaskan Plein Air Retreat! Capturing the retreating scene was an exercise in painting from memory, imagination, and most of all, my heart.
