I have always loved and am strongly influenced by the shapes, colours and cultural objects that I encountered living in and travelling the South African rural areas with my father. During my BA Fine Art, I majored in History of Art which culminated in a research project on Zulu Beadwork (I was lucky enough to spend time with Professor Frank Jolles in Pietermaritzburg looking through his collection of traditional Zulu beadwork — many of the items were destined to be shipped to the UK — and the British Museum). I also worked part-time for an African Art Centre in Hillcrest and got to see, draw and enjoy a wide variety of cultural objects and sculptures from all over Africa.
Unique Hand printed woodcut with watercolour and fine art printmaking paper.
