This fairly small, vibrant red painting with a partial close up of a face is the fruit of my fascination of the work of the amazing artist Joshua Mays.
His way of connecting the figure with the background is very similar to what I do in my art, yet he takes it one huge step further.
He paints a super psychodelic world around them.
I wanted to know how his technique of using the background worked,
so I made a quite simple foreground figure, leaving space for randomness around it.
It was a lot of fun to discovery of what works and what not,
now that I know, I can opt to use it in other paintings.
But this one will always be special, because it's the first one!
On the video you can see that I've painted the sides as well, so it's a beautiful object from any which way you may look upon it, even without a frame.
But personally, I see it framed with a dark frame, to make the red pop out even more,
but frames are a very personal choice.
I've signed it on the lower left corner,
on the back you will find my bigger signature, the title and the year of making.
Apart from all the good vibes,
I also add a certificate of authenticity with each painting.
If you have any question, I will be happy to assist you!
