This is a view of a idillic small California town of Inverness from across Tomales Bay in Marin County. Some 15 miles long, this narrow body of water separates the Point Reyes Peninsula from the California mainland. Inverness is just northwest of Point Reyes Station.
I love visiting and painting in these small quaint towns along Tomales Bay. Barely 40 miles from San Francisco, they offer tranquility, open spaces, beautiful scenery, dotted with coves, beaches, and caves, and backed by eucalyptus and pine forests.
